Halifax Nurse Awarded Clinical Nursing Journal’s Writing Award
—Kathryn Hayward Accepts Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing Award—
Washington, DC, June 13, 2016 – The Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN), the research journal of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), today presented its Best of JOGNN Award to Kathryn Hayward, MN, RN, IBCLC, for her article entitled, “Effect of Cobedding Twins on Coregulation, Infant State, and Twin Safety.” The award was presented at the AWHONN national Convention in Grapevine, Texas.
The Best of JOGNN Award honors the first author of an original article published in JOGNN. Articles are nominated by the editors, and the winning paper is chosen by the members of the JOGNN Editorial Advisory Board. Criteria for the award include the originality of the work; the clarity and scholarliness of the writing; the potential for the paper to significantly affect the care of women, infants, and/or childbearing families; and the interdisciplinary importance of the work. The award is sponsored by GE Healthcare—Centricity™ Perinatal.
Ms. Hayward has been involved in neonatal nursing practice, education, and research for more than 30 years and has contributed to more than 58 related publications and presentations across Canada and the United States. She is currently an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is a funded researcher in the area of interprofessional education. She has previously practiced as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse and clinical educator.
“Ms. Hayward’s contributions to neonatal health and education are exceptional,” said JOGNN Editor Nancy K. Lowe, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN. “With her vast experience in the field, she understands the critical need for safe sleep and the special considerations for multiples.”
