Executive Staff

Suzanne C. Berry, MBA, CAE, Chief Executive Officer

Suzanne comes to AWHONN with over 30 years in the nonprofit sector, primarily in leading medical and scientific organizations. She has been serving in Interim C-Suite roles since 2014.

Suzanne’s interim roles have included: Senior Advisor to the Executive Director overseeing Finance and special projects for the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP); Senior Strategic Advisor to the CEO for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) overseeing education, examination, talent management and communication; interim COO of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID); and Interim CEO of the American Diabetes Association.

Suzanne founded Association Resources in 1983 along with Peter J. Berry, CAE. Prior to selling AR in 2007, she developed and led a broad portfolio of health care clients. She served as Executive Director of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), the American Society for Experimental Neurotherapeutics (ASENT) and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). She was a strategic advisor to many of AR’s clients, including the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) and consulted with organizations to develop and design certification programs. She has facilitated many strategic planning sessions for nonprofit organizations. She has also worked with associations to develop governance and board training programs.

Suzanne holds a Master in Business Administration from Northeastern University, Boston, MA. She is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), is a Certified Association Executive, and serves on the ASAE CAE Testing Committee and the ASAE Foundation Development Committee. She is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

DJ Johnson, IOM, CAE, Vice President of Membership and Volunteer Engagement

DJ joined AWHONN in 2019 as Vice President of Membership and Volunteer Engagement. As a member of the AWHONN executive team, DJ develops and leads the organization’s membership and volunteer development efforts.

For the last seventeen years, DJ has served as a chief strategist and innovator in the areas of membership, volunteer development and stakeholder engagement, including at the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Drug Information Association. He is a 2016-2018 class of the ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program scholars, and has spearheaded diversity and inclusion efforts at multiple organizations. In 2013 he gained the dual honors of being named one of Association Forum’s “40 Under Forty” exemplary association executives and one of Association Trends Magazine Young & Aspiring Association Professionals. He currently serves on the CAE Commission, which governs the Certified Association Executive examination and credential.

DJ is a sought-after presenter and facilitator.

Billie Robinson, MBA, CAE, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Marketing, Communications And Meetings

Billie joined AWHONN in 2008 with the position of Associate Director of Meetings. Most recently, he served as the Senior Director of Meetings & Convention Services.

Billie leads a team that has delivered successful conventions and has built a successful sponsorship model and development of corporate partnerships. An accomplished association professional, Billie has more than 20 years of association management experience specializing in meetings management, professional development, advertising and sales.

Billie has served on several industry advisory boards including Visit Orlando, New Orleans and Montreal and is currently a member of the Leading Authorities Association Advisory Council. Designated a Certified Association Executive (CAE) by the American Society of Association Executives in 2002 and a Diversity Executive Leadership Scholar (DELP) in 2013, Billie continues to serve the profession by volunteering at various events and working with internal staff who wish to earn their CAE. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Boise State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.

Jacqueline Rychnovsky, PhD, RN, CPNP, FAANP, Vice President, Research and Policy

Jacque joined AWHONN in 2017 and is responsible for managing research programs and public policy initiatives for the association.

With over 36 years of military and civilian nursing experience in caring for women and children, Jacque is a dedicated clinician, researcher and policy advocate who brings extensive know-how in both bedside and advanced practice nursing, nursing research and healthcare policy development.  During her military nursing career, she focused on issues surrounding active duty military mothers and was the Navy representative on the TriService Nursing Research Program Women’s Health Research Interest Group.  After completing a healthcare policy fellowship in the office of Sen. Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI), she served as a nursing policy advisor for the US Navy Surgeon General. Jacque is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and previously served as a member of JOGNN’s Editorial Advisory Board.

Benjamin Scheich, MS, Interim Assistant Vice President, Learning, Clinical Solutions & Analytics

Ben joined AWHONN in 2008 and is responsible for managing the education, clinical solutions, and analytics initiatives for the association.

Ben’s focus is on using data and analytics to better understand AWHONN member needs and develop resources to meet those needs. Ben is passionate about process improvement and creating automated, just-in-time analytics resources to manage product metrics.

Ben has a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and enjoys speaking about analytics in associations.
