The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has hired Suzanne Berry, MBA, CAE, as CEO. Berry was hired in February 2018 as Interim CEO, succeeding Lynn Erdman, MN, RN, FAAN.

“While we fully intended to conduct a full scale search for a permanent CEO, AWHONN is in the midst of some needed transformational change and Suzanne is the right executive to lead us through this very critical and important time of our organization,” said AWHONN’s President Jenn Doyle, MSN, WHNP-BC. “She has phenomenal experience and expertise in association management and we look forward to continuing to work with her,” Doyle concluded.

“I am honored to serve as AWHONN’s CEO,” said Berry. “I look forward to continuing the work that we have started to increase AWHONN’s value and relevancy to our current and prospective members. We need to engage our members in a more meaningful way and recognize the needs that our members have based on where they are with their career. We will become a more nimble and responsive association.” She added, “AWHONN has an outstanding reputation in the healthcare arena with evidence-based training and education products and programs.”

Berry, a seasoned executive, brings nonprofit leadership experience with an expertise focused on governance and infrastructure review, fundraising and development, marketing, strategic planning, project management, and finance.  Since selling a successful association management company in 2007, Suzanne has been working with organizations in interim C-Suite positions. She has worked with the American Diabetes Association, American Society for Interior Designers, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and the International Association for the Study of Pain.
