The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) recently announced this year’s Millennial Nurse Scholarship recipients. For the second year, AWHONN is partnering with Huggies® to award four scholarships for millennial nurses to attend AWHONN’s Annual Convention in Tampa, Florida, on June 23-27, 2018. These scholarships provide the opportunity for select nurses to expand their professional development in their specialty of women’s health, neonatal and obstetrics.

This year, AWHONN received 138 video submissions from millennial nurses across the country. Recipients of the scholarship will receive registration, hotel, and airfare. In addition, scholarship recipients have the unique opportunity to participate in Huggies educational programs and events throughout the year, and they will also receive a one-year full membership to AWHONN.

This year’s Millennial Nurse Scholarship recipients are:

  • Sophia Viamonte, Registered Nurse at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, WA
  • Jennifer Delgado, Registered Nurse, Postpartum at Inova Health System in Alexandria, VA
  • Alexis Oseiwusu, Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery, at Hartford Hospital in East Hartford, CT
  • Tia Ajao, Clinical Nurses, Well Baby Nursery, at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, MD

“Sophia Viamonte, Jennifer Delgado, Alexis Oseiwusu and Tia Ajao’s individual commitments to improving the health of women and newborns through education and clinical practice have impacted the lives of countless individuals,” said AWHONN’s Interim Chief Executive Officer Suzanne Berry, MBA, CAE. “Their exemplary dedication to the nursing profession makes them a clear choice to be this year’s recipients of AWHONN’s Millennial Nurse Scholarship.”

“We’d like to congratulate these four talented scholarship recipients for their achievements and contributions to newborn health and development. Further, we’d like to thank the many bright, nurse applicants who go the extra mile in their roles every day to provide babies, families and communities with the care and skills they need to thrive,” said Aric Melzl, General Manager of Huggies Healthcare at Kimberly-Clark. “We are thrilled to support the next generation of nurses by facilitating their continued education within their practices.”
