AWHONN PRESENTS ‘PARTNERS IN CARE FOR WOMEN’S AND NEWBORN HEALTH’, A COLLABORATION WITH ITN PRODUCTIONS

March 12, 2018 – In the second year of a unique communications partnership, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style program designed to show how today’s women’s health, obstetric and neonatal nurses partner with other medical professionals, parents, communities, hospitals, universities, non-profits and like-minded industry companies to improve care for women and newborns.

‘Partners in Care’ aims to highlight the commitment of the AWHONN community to work towards solutions on the most pressing health issues facing women and newborns today. The program will address key issues such as the reduction of maternal mortality, the importance of post-birth education for new mothers, mood and anxiety disorders in pregnant and postpartum women and early detection and treatment of substance use disorders.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60-year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the program aims to communicate the role of women’s health, obstetric and neonatal nurses as key collaborative leaders on these issues.  It will also encourage new thinking and raise awareness within the health care community, bringing understanding to importance of collaboration between health care professionals, emerging technologies, and researchers to provide valued care and improved performance outcomes.

‘Partners in Care’ will be an in-depth, online program featuring interviews, news items and sponsored editorial profiles of leaders and key organizations, showcasing the hard work that takes place every day, improving the effectiveness and professionalism of women’s health, obstetric and neonatal nurses and the quality of care for women and newborns. The program will be premiered at AWHONN 2018 Convention held June 23th – 27th, 2018 in Tampa.

Jennifer L. Doyle, MSN, WHNP-BC, President, AWHONN said: “As leaders in women’s health, the nurses of AWHONN are committed to improving and promoting the health of women and newborns through evidence-based practice and care. Every day, AWHONN nurses partner with fellow health care professionals, dedicated nonprofits, community leadership, and companies committed to these same goals. We are excited to partner with ITN Productions on ‘Partners in Care’ to share this message to a wider audience which we hope to engage in addressing these critical issues.”
