AWHONN’s Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) program is the recognized leader in fetal heart monitoring education. AWHONN offers in-person and online formats that are convenient, evidence-based and the essential tools for educating the entire team. The FHM program also trains participants to become AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructors.
Maternal Fetal Triage Index (MFTI)
The Maternal Fetal Triage Index (MFTI) educational module educates perinatal nurses about obstetric triage basics—what triage means in obstetrics, what the nurses’ role is, and how a systematic approach can be beneficial to improve the process of triage and outcomes.
Obstetric Patient Safety Program
Despite efforts from many collaborating agencies and professional organizations, the maternal mortality rate in the United States continues to remain high. The Obstetric Patient Safety (OPS): Obstetric Emergencies Workshop, 3rd Edition is designed to help clinicians identify, assess, and manage the care for patients with an obstetric emergency through simulation and debriefing. Clinicians working in the following departments: perinatal, emergency, medical-surgical, ICU, and critical access will find this course essential to caring for patients experiencing an obstetric emergency.
Obstetric Triage Orientation Education
During one of the most important moments of a women’s life, the obstetric triage nurse is often a patient’s first point of contact with the birth unit. A triage nurse’s critical role in identifying urgent or emergent conditions can prevent denial and delay, which can lead to maternal mortality and severe morbidity. AWHONN recognizes that properly orienting nurses to obstetric triage promotes patient safety, patient satisfaction, and nurse retention. The Obstetric Triage Orientation Education course is AWHONN’s first course addressing obstetric triage nursing care, making it an essential resource in a triage unit nurse’s orientation.
Neonatal Orientation and Education Program (NOEP)
Education and consistent care are crucial to helping improve safety and outcomes on your level II or III NICU. The Neonatal Orientation and Education Program, Fourth Edition, (NOEP) addresses both factors and gives you a total solution to your staffing education and orientation needs.
Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP)
The new Perinatal Orientation & Education Program, Fourth Edition (POEP), is highly effective in providing evidence-based, clinical education to perinatal nurses. POEP helps to mitigate patient risk, increase staff efficiency, and promote optimal obstetric outcomes while saving your healthcare system time and money. With POEP, your facility can establish consistent provision of high-quality care for mothers.
POST-BIRTH Warning Signs Education Program
AWHONN has developed a standardized approach to ensuring that postpartum parents are empowered to recognize and act on signs of potentially life-threatening postpartum complications. The POST-BIRTH Warning Signs online course and program resources educate nurses and other healthcare professionals about the significance of postpartum maternal mortality and severe morbidity in the U.S. and how to provide consistent parent education aimed at reversing this trend.
