WASHINGTON, DC, November 16, 2022 —The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities has awarded eight cooperative agreements for health professional collaborations to address prenatal alcohol and other substance use and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The University of Alaska Anchorage is partnering with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), along with the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, to contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary framework focused on 1) reducing prenatal alcohol and other substance use, 2) improving support services and access to care, and 3) improving identification and health of children and families with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.
This agreement falls under CDC’s Notice of Funding Opportunity CDC-RFA-DD22-2201.
